Abstract
This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of long term exercise on VO2max and hemodynamic change with coronary artery disease. Sixty three patients were divided by age group with four groups; forties from 40 to 49(n=13), fifties from 50 to 59(n=18), sixties from 60 to 69(n=16), seventies from 70 to 79(n=13). Exercise program was consisted of home-based aerobic exercise and low intensity strength exercise for 9 months. Exercise prescription were above 30min or over and 3 times/week through VO2R 40¢¦60%. They were followed up at 3 months and 9 months after VO2max and RPP(Rate Pressure Product) were measured at pre, 3 months and 9 months. VO2max of forties was only significantly improved 9.5%(p=0.034) at 3months. Other groups significantly improved at 9months. Resting RPP was changed only among seventies significantly(p=0.009). In conclusion, VO2max of older groups were improved later than younger groups in ambulatory cardiac rehabilitation.
